Editorial Policy
Mission
TechGrid is a builder-first tech publication. We cover the people, products, and decisions shaping what ships next—so engineers, product leaders, founders, and investors can act with clarity.
Our promise
Accuracy over speed. Substance over hype. Full disclosure where interests exist.
1) Independence & funding
- Editorial choices are independent from commercial interests.
- Any paid placement is clearly labeled (“Sponsored”, “Partner Content”, or “Research in partnership with …”).
- Sponsors and advertisers don’t review or approve independent coverage.
2) Review & quality control
- We don’t publish arbitrarily. Every piece must provide tangible, verifiable insight for builders.
- Each article receives at least two positive reviews before publication (editorial + subject-matter/technical).
- Not every draft makes it through. We’d rather pass than publish something weak.
3) Accuracy, sources & evidence
- Prefer primary materials: filings, code, datasets, dashboards, PRs, docs, conference talks.
- For contested claims we seek multiple sources or documents.
- We link to originals and clearly attribute others’ reporting.
- Quotes may be lightly edited for clarity and brevity—never for meaning.
4) Anonymity, background & embargoes
- Anonymity is rare and granted only to protect safety or employment; an editor must approve it.
- “Off the record” and “on background” apply only if agreed beforehand.
- We honor embargoes we accept. We don’t sign NDAs that restrict editorial independence.
5) What we never publish
- Press releases or PR boilerplate masquerading as editorial.
- Hidden advertising or native ads without labels.
- Link-for-favor placements, partner-link schemes, or paid outbound links in editorial.
- Undisclosed affiliate links. (If we ever use affiliates for our own properties, we’ll label and nofollow them.)
- Giveaways based on donated products that could influence coverage.
6) Sponsored content (when applicable)
- Clearly labeled and separated from newsroom workflow.
- Same baseline standards: factual review, sources, technical accuracy.
- Sponsored posts are how-to/tutorial style—not product reviews or copy-paste press notes.
7) Conflicts of interest
- Staff and regular contributors must disclose investments, advisory roles, paid relationships, and close personal ties related to coverage.
- Authors do not cover companies where they are employees or hold a material interest.
- Guest contributors (including investors) disclose portfolio positions and board roles; disclosures appear in the byline or footnote.
8) Use of AI
- We do not accept AI-generated prose. Drafting or paraphrasing with LLMs is not allowed.
- Grammar/spell-check tools are fine; a human writes and fact-checks every piece.
- AI-generated visuals, if used, are labeled; prompts/datasets are described when material to understanding.
9) Rights, copyright & fair use
- We respect the rights of authors, designers, photographers, and developers.
- We don’t link to obvious pirated or infringing materials.
- Unless noted otherwise, content is © TechGrid. Short quotations may be reproduced with attribution and a link; full republication requires written permission.
- Guest authors retain portfolio rights to excerpt with a canonical link back to TechGrid. Syndication requires prior approval.
10) Links & promotions
- Up to two contextual links to an author’s work/company are allowed when they add reader value; promotional CTAs may be removed or marked nofollow.
- Editorial links are not for sale.
11) Corrections & updates
- Factual errors are corrected promptly and transparently.
- Substantive fixes carry a timestamped “Correction” note; clarifications a “Update” note.
- To request a correction, email team@techgrid.media with subject Correction, include the URL, quoted passage, and supporting evidence.
12) Style & accessibility
- Voice: clear, pragmatic, occasionally witty, always respectful of readers’ time.
- Structure: strong thesis in the lede; short paragraphs; concrete takeaways.
- Media: lead images 16:9 (≥1600×900) with descriptive alt text; charts/screens labeled with sources; code/CLI where useful.
- We aim for accessible color contrast, keyboard navigation, and ARIA labels where needed.
13) Payments & commissioning
- Commissioned work (editor-assigned) may be paid at agreed rates.
- Guest submissions are generally unpaid unless explicitly commissioned or sponsored; sponsored formats are labeled.
- Payment (when applicable) is not tied to the editorial verdict on any company or product.
14) Data & privacy
- We collect minimal analytics (e.g., GA4/Plausible). See our Privacy Policy for details.
- Pitch forms and sensitive tips are stored securely and accessed only by the editorial team.
15) Diversity & inclusion
- We actively seek varied voices across geographies, backgrounds, and roles.
- We avoid stereotypes and loaded language; suggestions are welcome at team@techgrid.media.
16) Security & responsible disclosure
- Found a vulnerability in our site or infra? Email team@techgrid.media.
- We acknowledge within 72 hours and coordinate remediation; public credit is optional.
