Cookie Policy
Last updated: {24.11.2025}
This page explains what cookies and similar technologies are, how TechGrid Media uses them on techgrid.media (and subdomains), and how you can control your choices.
What are cookies (and similar technologies)?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by a website. Some last only for your browsing session and are deleted when you close the browser (session cookies). Others remain for a defined period (persistent cookies).
We also use similar technologies such as localStorage, sessionStorage and pixels (single-pixel images in emails or pages) that help us remember settings, measure usage or deliver essential functionality. Cookies can’t run programs or deliver viruses.
Why we use them
We keep tracking minimal. Cookies and similar tech on TechGrid are used for:
- Necessary (strictly required): run the site securely, remember your consent state, enable author/admin login and basic infrastructure features.
- Statistics (analytics): understand how our content is used and improve UX.
- Preferences: remember your choices (e.g., language, view/filter settings).
- Marketing & embeds (only if enabled): measure campaign effectiveness or load third-party widgets after consent/interaction.
Only the Necessary category is set without prior consent. All other categories are optional and off until you choose otherwise.
What we actually set
Necessary (always on)
- A consent cookie that stores which categories you accepted or declined.
- WordPress session and preference cookies for logged-in authors/admins only (regular readers don’t receive these).
- Server-side logs from our host for security, load balancing and error diagnostics.
Statistics (choose one)
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — loads only after consent. GA4 sets identifiers like _ga and related tags to distinguish visits and measure usage. We enable IP anonymization, limit retention and use Consent Mode.
OR - Plausible Analytics — cookie-free, collects only aggregate usage metrics.
Preferences (if used)
- Lightweight items in localStorage/sessionStorage to remember UI choices (for example, language or whether you prefer grid vs list). You can clear these in your browser at any time.
Marketing & embeds (only if you enable them)
- Third-party widgets (e.g., YouTube, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Meta Pixel) may set their own cookies. We use click-to-load where possible so these only load after your interaction or consent. If you’d rather not receive third-party cookies, keep this category off and avoid interacting with embeds.
Email pixels
Some newsletters or confirmations include a single, campaign-unique pixel to know if an email was opened and if links were clicked. We use this to improve content relevance and deliverability.
How to opt out: set your email client to block images by default or subscribe to plain-text emails where available.
Managing your choices
- Consent banner: On your first visit, we ask for your preferences. Change them anytime via Manage cookies (footer link) or by reopening the banner.
- Browser controls: You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking necessary cookies may break site features (e.g., author login).

Dev / CMP notes (for your implementer)
- Block all non-essential categories (Statistics, Preferences, Marketing) until consent; provide a footer Manage cookies link.
- If GA4 is used: enable Consent Mode by default (analytics_storage=’denied’), anonymize IP, keep retention ≤14 months.
- If Plausible only: no cookie banner is required (in most jurisdictions) provided no other non-essential cookies are used.
- Implement click-to-load for embeds (YouTube, X/Twitter, LinkedIn); load only after interaction/consent.
- Namespace localStorage/sessionStorage keys (e.g., tg_*).
