Microsoft and Ericsson have launched a new international technology group to strengthen digital trust. The coalition brings together leading companies from cloud, AI, telecom, and software to set shared standards for secure and responsible technology.
The initiative, called the Trusted Tech Alliance, was unveiled on February 13 and brings together 15 companies including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, SAP, Nokia, NTT, Reliance Jio Platforms, Anthropic, and Cohere.
A coalition built around global tech cooperation
Reuters reported that the alliance focuses on promoting secure and ethical technology use everywhere, as more countries emphasize digital sovereignty and local control over data and infrastructure.
The coalition is built on five main principles which are strong governance, ethical conduct, secure technology development, following global security standards, and supporting an open digital environment.
Microsoft says the group includes companies from cloud infrastructure, connectivity, semiconductors, software, and artificial intelligence. All members commit to shared practices to keep technologies secure, reliable, and responsibly managed worldwide.
Responding to rising digital sovereignty concerns
The alliance was formed in response to concerns about digital fragmentation, as governments seek more control over data storage, technology supply chains, and national infrastructure. Talks between Microsoft and Ericsson started in mid-2025.
Microsoft President Brad Smith said the alliance aims to counter the trend of countries becoming more isolated on technology, as governments set stricter national rules for digital systems and platforms.
Ericsson CEO Börje Ekholm shared that no country can achieve full technological independence alone, stressing the importance of working together across borders.
Major tech players sign on
The alliance’s founding members are global companies from different technology fields. Microsoft confirmed that the signatories include Anthropic, AWS, Cassava Technologies, Cohere, Google Cloud, Hanwha, Jio Platforms, Nokia, Nscale, NTT, Rapidus, Saab, SAP, Ericsson, and Microsoft.
MSN reported that companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, and Anthropic are leading the push to improve transparency, security, and data protection across the industry.
The coalition includes firms from North America, Europe, and Asia, reflecting a global effort to address trust and security challenges tied to emerging technologies.
A framework for shared standards
Trusted Tech Alliance lets member companies check their own compliance with the principles, but also allows for independent reviews.
The companies say the initiative is meant to keep technology systems, such as AI, cloud platforms, and connectivity infrastructure, secure and reliable in global markets.
Microsoft’s announcement said the alliance focuses on working together and responsible leadership as new technologies spread worldwide, stressing the need for shared standards and cooperation across borders.
