OpenAI Reportedly Building Social Media Platform for AI-Generated Content

OpenAI is reportedly developing a new social networking platform designed to showcase and share AI-generated content, according to The Verge. Inspired in part by Elon Musk’s integration of Grok into X (formerly Twitter), the new platform could position OpenAI as a serious contender in the AI-driven social media space.

Still in early development, the project already has a working internal prototype that includes a content feed and tools for sharing images generated by ChatGPT. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman is said to be personally gathering feedback to shape the direction of the platform.

While it’s not yet confirmed whether the platform will launch as a standalone app or be built into ChatGPT, the concept centers on allowing users to easily create and share high-quality AI-generated content. The move reflects a growing trend among tech giants to blend generative AI with social experiences.

In addition to expanding user engagement, the platform may help OpenAI collect valuable user-generated data to improve its AI models — a tactic already used by Meta and X.

As OpenAI explores social media as its next frontier, this initiative signals a broader shift toward more interactive, content-driven AI ecosystems.
