Meta is expanding its smart eyewear portfolio with a bold new move: a strategic partnership with Oakley to launch a line of performance-oriented AI glasses, designed specifically for athletes and active users.

The first product in this collaboration, the Oakley Meta HSTN (pronounced “how-stuhn”), will be available for preorder starting July 11 at a retail price of $499. The limited-edition model will be followed later this summer by additional Oakley frames powered by Meta’s smart technology, with entry models priced from $399. Meta has also confirmed that the HSTN will launch in the United Arab Emirates later this year.

Smart Features for Sport and Lifestyle

The Oakley Meta HSTN integrates the same advanced technology seen in Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses — including a 12MP front-facing ultra-wide camera capable of capturing 3K videoopen-ear speakers, dual microphones, and Bluetooth connectivity.

Wearers can:

  • Listen to music
  • Make phone calls
  • Send and receive messages
  • Capture POV content
  • Livestream — all hands-free

At the core of the device is Meta’s onboard AI assistant, activated with the command “Hey Meta.” The assistant can:

  • Provide real-time information (like weather or wind speed)
  • Translate languages
  • Describe surroundings through the camera lens
  • Answer contextual queries
  • Offer accessibility features, including integration with Be My Eyes, a platform that connects visually impaired users with volunteers

Built for Endurance

Marketed as “Performance AI Glasses,” the Oakley models are IPX4 water-resistant and deliver up to 8 hours of battery life, with an additional 48 hours via the charging case — making them ideal for both workouts and all-day wear.

The collection will include five Oakley frame and lens combinations, with prescription-ready options and colorways such as:

  • Warm grey
  • Black
  • Clear
  • Brown smoke

The limited-edition launch model stands out with gold PRIZM lenses and gold accents, paying homage to Oakley’s long-standing heritage in performance eyewear.

Meta’s partnership with Oakley signals a deeper push into wearable AI for active consumers, blending functionality with sport-focused design.
